ICON CAPSULES (Itraconzole capsules) These capsules contain Itraconazole, an azole antifungal agent, used for treating various fungal infections Icon is prescribed for conditions like vulvovaginal candidiasis, blastomycosis, derma to phytoses, oropharyngeal candidiasis, and onychomycosis caused by dermatophytes and/or yeasts There is a caution against administering Itraconazole Capsules in patients with evidence of congestive heart failure (CHF), as negative inotropic effects were observed during intravenous administration The recommended dosage varies for different indications, ranging from 100 mg once daily to 200 mg twice daily, depending on the severity and type of fungal infection Itraconazole has potential drug interactions, particularly with CYP3A4 inhibitors, and caution is advised in patients with hepatic dysfunction. Additionally, it should not be used during pregnancy, except in life-threatening cases. Regular monitoring and adjustments are necessary for patients
