BETA-F CREAM (Betamethasone, Fusidic Acid cream)
Beta-F Cream combines the anti-inflammatory power of Betamethasone with the potent antibacterial properties of Fusidic Acid to effectively treat inflammatory skin conditions and infections
It’s suitable for various skin issues, including eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, and more. Plus, it’s ideal when secondary bacterial infections are suspected
Apply a small amount of Beta-F Cream directly to the affected area, enhancing its efficacy by occlusion with polyethylene film for more resistant lesions
While using Beta-F Cream, be cautious about potential localized adverse effects, and follow your physician’s guidance for the application
Store Beta-F Cream below 30°C, protect it from light, heat, and moisture, and ensure it’s out of reach of children. Always use it under medical supervision
Beta-F Cream: Your Solution for Skin Inflammation and Infections
Composition:
Each Beta-F Cream gram contains Betamethasone (as Betamethasone Valerate BP) 1 mg (0.1% w/w)
Fusidic Acid BP 20 mg (2% w/w)
Pharmacological Properties
Mechanism of Action:
Betamethasone: It exerts anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive actions, inhibiting the adherence of immune cells to inflamed areas
Fusidic Acid: A potent topical antibacterial that blocks protein synthesis in bacteria, effective against a wide range of pathogens, especially Staphylococci
Indications
Beta-F combines the anti-inflammatory effects of betamethasone with the antibacterial action of fusidic acid, making it suitable for treating:
- eczematous dermatoses, including atopic, infantile, discoid, and stasis eczema
- Psoriasis
- Neurodermatosis (e.g., lichen simplex, lichen planus).
- Seborrhoeic dermatitis
- Prurigo
- Intertrigo
- Bacterial infections confirmed or suspected
Dosage and Administration
Apply a small quantity of BetaF Cream to the affected area twice daily until a satisfactory response is achieved. Treatment typically lasts up to 2 weeks, and occlusion with polyethylene film can enhance effectiveness in resistant lesions
Pharmacokinetics
The absorption and metabolism of betamethasone are influenced by factors such as skin condition and application site. Fusidic acid is primarily excreted in the bile and minimally in the urine. There is no defined pharmacokinetic data for Beta-F following topical administration in humans
Contraindications
Avoid Beta-F Cream if there is known hypersensitivity to betamethasone valerate or fusidic acid/sodium fusidate
Adverse Effects
The application of Beta-F Cream may cause localized adverse effects such as burning, stinging, dry skin, pruritus, and irritation. While occlusion can enhance the cream’s effectiveness, it’s crucial to be cautious about potential side effects
Storage:
Store Beta-F Cream below 30°C, protected from light, heat, and moisture. Keep it out of the reach of children
Beta-F Cream is a versatile solution for inflammatory skin conditions with added antibacterial potency to aid in the treatment of skin infections. Always follow your physician’s recommendations for usage and duration
