DESCRIPTION
Betasalic Ointment:
Betasalic Ointment (Betamethasone Dipropionate) is a synthetic corticosteroid with antiinflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive properties. It is used to treat dermatological diseases.
Salicylic Acid is a keratolytic and antiseptic agent that softens keratin, loosens cornified epithelium, and aids in the penetration of betamethasone.
COMPOSITION
Betasalic Ointment:
- Betamethasone (as Dipropionate) BP: 0.5 mg
- Salicylic Acid BP: 30 mg (2% w/w)
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Betasalic Ointment:
Betamethasone Dipropionate: Effective in treating inflammatory dermatoses, including
psoriasis and eczema.
Salicylic Acid: Keratolytic action that softens and exfoliates the epidermis.
INDICATIONS
Betasalic Ointment is indicated for the relief of inflammatory manifestations of skin conditions like psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, lichen planus, eczema, and more.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
- Adults: Apply a thin film to the affected area 12 times daily. Massage gently.
- Children: Limit use to 5 days, and dosage should be limited. Follow the physician’s instructions.
ADVERSE REACTIONS
Possible side effects include burning, itching, irritation, dryness, folliculitis, acneiform eruptions, and more. The use of occlusive dressings may increase adverse effects.
SPECIAL POPULATIONS
