Scabrid: Effective Topical Treatment for Scabies

Scabrid Lotion Composition:

Permethrin 5% WN in each milliliter of lotion. Permethrin 5% WW in each gram of Scabrid Lotion cream.

Product Description:

Scabrid Lotion 5% is designed to combat Sarcoptes scabiei infestations, commonly known as scabies, as a topical scabicidal agent.

Clinical Pharmacology:

Permethrin, a pyrethroid, effectively disrupts nerve cell membranes’ sodium channel currents in various pests, leading to paralysis, including Sarcoptes scabiei, the cause of scabies.

Indications and Usage:

Scabrid (Permethrin) Lotion/Cream is indicated for treating Sarcoptes scabiei infestations, known as scabies.

Contraindications:

Scabrid should not be used by individuals allergic to its components, synthetic pyrethroids, or pyrethrins.

Precautions:

Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes. Eczematous eruptions due to product-related irritation may occur, accompanied by pruritus, erythema, stinging, or rarely, rashes.

Pregnancy & Nursing Mothers:

Limited data exists on permethrin’s use during pregnancy or its excretion in breast milk. Pregnant or nursing women should seek medical advice before use.

Directions for Use:

Apply Scabrid Lotion/Cream thinly to dry skin, excluding the head for adults and the face, neck, scalp, and ears for children and the elderly. Leave on for 8-12 hours, then wash off. One application is usually curative.

Dosage:

For adults: 30ml; children aged 5-12 years: 15ml; aged 1-5 years: 8ml; infants aged 2 months to 1 year: 4ml. Adjust under medical advice.

Storage and Instructions:

For external use only. Store below 30 °C, protect from light, do not freeze. Use on medical advice. Keep away from children.
