Romlus Tacrolimus Ointment: For Moderate to Severe Eczema

ROMLUS 0.1% (TACROLIMUS) OINTMENT 10g is a brand name for a medication containing tacrolimus, an immunosuppressant used to treat moderate to severe atopic dermatitis (eczema) in adults. It comes in two strengths: 0.1% and 0.03% ointment.

Romlus is an ointment applied directly to the skin.

How Tacrolimus Ointment Works:

Tacrolimus works by suppressing the immune system’s activity in the skin, reducing inflammation and itching associated with eczema.

Indications Tacrolimus Ointment:

Romlus is indicated for short-term and intermittent long-term treatment of moderate to severe atopic dermatitis in adults (16 years and older).

Dosage and Administration:

  • Apply a thin layer of Romlus ointment to the affected skin areas twice daily, about 12 hours apart.
  • Rub the ointment gently and completely into the skin.
  • Continue treatment for one week after symptoms clear.

Side Effects:

  • Burning sensation
  • Itching
  • Redness (erythema) – These effects are usually mild to moderate and tend to improve within a week of treatment.
  • Increased skin sensitivity
  • Skin tingling
  • Alcohol intolerance (facial flushing or skin irritation after drinking alcohol)

Contraindications:

  • Hypersensitivity to tacrolimus or any ingredient in Romlus

Precautions:

  • Avoid applying other topical medications to the same area within 2 hours of using Romlus.
  • Minimize sun exposure and ultraviolet (UV) light on treated areas.
  • Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
  • Not for oral use. Accidental ingestion can lead to serious side effects.
