Description
ALOFEX TABLET 120mg (FEXOFENADINE HCI U.S.P) PACK OF 10 TABLETS: Effective Relief from Allergies
Description:
Alofex Tablet by Derma Tecno, available in 60mg, 120mg, and 180mg strengths, are a reliable solution for combating allergies. These tablets contain Fexofenadine Hydrochloride, an active ingredient known for its histamine H1receptor antagonist properties. In this article, we'll delve into the detailed description, clinical pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, special population considerations, safety, and more about Alofex Tablets
Qualitative and Quantitative Composition:
- Alofex 60mg Tablet: Contains Fexofenadine hydrochloride USP 60mg.
- Alofex 120mg Tablet: Contains Fexofenadine hydrochloride USP 120mg.
- Alofex 180mg Tablet: Contains Fexofenadine hydrochloride USP 180mg.
Clinical Pharmacology:
Mechanism of Action: Fexofenadine Hydrochloride is a selective peripheral H1receptor antagonist, effectively countering histamine's allergic response
Alofex rapidly absorbs, reaching peak plasma concentration 2.6 hours after dosing.
It has linear pharmacokinetics for doses up to 120mg twice daily and an elimination half-life of 14.4 hours. Approximately 80% is recovered in feces and 11% in urine, with minimal metabolism. It does not cross the blood brain barrier
Special Populations: Age, renal, and hepatic factors can impact pharmacokinetics. Older adults may experience higher peak plasma levels. Renal impairment prolongs half-life, while hepatic impairment impacts metabolism
Pregnancy and Nursing:
Teratogenic Effects: Limited data suggest no teratogenicity in rats or rabbits at doses up to 4 times human therapeutic value
Nursing mothers should exercise caution when taking Fexofenadine Hydrochloride due to its potential excretion in human milk.
Pediatric and Geriatric Use:
- Pediatric: Safety and effectiveness have not been established in children under 12 years oldGeriatric: Adverse events in elderly patients (6068 years) were similar to those under 60 years
Adverse Reactions:
In placebo controlled trials, adverse events with Fexofenadine Hydrochloride (60mg twice daily) were similar to placebo. Common adverse events included viral infections, nausea, drowsiness, dysmenorrhea, and dyspepsia
Laboratory abnormalities and withdrawal due to adverse events were minimal
Over-dosage:
Management of acute overdosage typically relies on clinical experience, despite the limited availability of information
Alofex Tablets offer effective relief from allergies, and their pharmacokinetics are well-documented, ensuring their safety and efficacy. However, always consult a healthcare professional for guidance on dosage and usage — part of our Power Brands range.
