Rs. 2,468

Asset 25mg by Crystolite contains acitretin, a prescription oral retinoid used for severe, treatment-resistant psoriasis (including pustular and erythrodermic forms), severe disorders of keratinisation, and selected dermatology conditions. Acitretin works systemically to normalise the growth and shedding of skin cells.

Key Benefits

  • Effective oral retinoid for severe psoriasis and keratinisation disorders
  • Helps reduce scaling, thickness, and erythema in resistant plaque, pustular and erythrodermic psoriasis
  • Can be combined with phototherapy on specialist advice
  • Convenient once-daily oral capsule

Indications

  • Severe psoriasis (plaque, pustular, erythrodermic)
  • Severe disorders of keratinisation (e.g. ichthyosis, Darier's disease)
  • Selected lichen planus and other dermatoses on specialist advice

How to Use

Take Asset capsules exactly as prescribed by your dermatologist, usually once daily with the main meal or milk to improve absorption. Do not stop or change the dose without medical advice.

Critical Safety Information

  • Prescription only - specialist supervision required.
  • Severe teratogen. Must NOT be used in pregnancy. Effective contraception is mandatory for at least 1 month before, throughout, and for 3 years after stopping treatment.
  • No blood donation during treatment and for 3 years after stopping (risk of donation to a pregnant recipient).
  • Strictly avoid alcohol during therapy and for 2 months after - alcohol converts acitretin to etretinate which has an extremely long half-life.
  • Hepatotoxicity risk: baseline and regular liver function tests required
  • Monitor lipid profile (triglycerides, cholesterol) regularly
  • Common: dry lips/skin, cheilitis, dry eyes, hair thinning, peeling palms/soles, photosensitivity
  • Risk of benign intracranial hypertension, mood changes, musculoskeletal pain, skeletal hyperostosis with long-term use
  • Avoid vitamin A supplements and tetracyclines while on acitretin

Speak to your dermatologist for personalised dosing, monitoring schedule, and contraception counselling.
