Focin Ultra Sachet contains Fosfomycin Trometamol 3g, a broad-spectrum phosphonic acid antibiotic used for the single-dose oral treatment of uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs) and acute cystitis caused by susceptible bacteria including Escherichia coli and Enterococcus faecalis. Fosfomycin works by irreversibly inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis enzyme MurA (UDP-N-acetylglucosamine enolpyruvyl transferase), a mechanism distinct from all other antibiotic classes — making it active against many multi-drug resistant strains.
The single-sachet, single-dose regimen achieves very high urinary concentrations that persist for 24–48 hours, simplifying treatment and maximising compliance. Fosfomycin is particularly valuable where bacterial resistance to fluoroquinolones or trimethoprim is suspected. Dissolve the sachet contents in half a glass of water and drink on an empty stomach, ideally before bedtime.
