Provate Lotion — Betamethasone Dipropionate USP Prescription Corticosteroid for Psoriasis

Provate Lotion 30ml contains Betamethasone Dipropionate USP 0.64mg per ml (equivalent to Betamethasone 0.5mg/ml), a potent topical corticosteroid formulated for the treatment of resistant and severe psoriasis and corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses. Its lotion vehicle is particularly suited to the scalp and large skin surface areas, allowing uniform application without leaving heavy residue in hair. Manufactured by Saffron Pharmaceuticals. Prescription required.

Composition

  • Betamethasone Dipropionate USP — 0.64mg per ml (equivalent to Betamethasone 0.5mg/ml)

Indications

Provate Lotion is indicated for the relief of inflammatory manifestations of:

  • Resistant and severe psoriasis — including scalp psoriasis where a lotion is preferred
  • Corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses requiring a potent topical steroid
  • Large area inflammatory skin conditions unsuitable for cream or ointment vehicles

Dosage and Administration

  • Apply a few drops of Provate Lotion to the affected skin or scalp
  • Gently massage until fully absorbed
  • Apply twice daily (morning and night), or as directed by your doctor
  • Frequency may be reduced for maintenance once the condition responds

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity to betamethasone dipropionate or any excipient
  • Viral infections (e.g. herpes, varicella), tuberculosis, acne rosacea, fungal skin infections
  • Perioral dermatitis and ulcerative skin conditions

Precautions

  • Do not use on the face, groin, or underarms without explicit dermatologist instruction
  • Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes
  • Discontinue if irritation or sensitisation develops
  • Prolonged or extensive use increases risk of systemic absorption and skin atrophy
  • See our full range of psoriasis care and betamethasone products at Derma.pk

Adverse Reactions

Mild burning, stinging, dryness, pruritus, and irritation are common early reactions. With prolonged use: skin atrophy, hypertrichosis, acneiform eruptions, hypopigmentation, and perioral dermatitis may occur. Browse all gels and lotions or essential health products at Derma.pk.

Storage

Store as indicated on the label. Keep out of reach of children. For external use only.

Prescription Required (Rx) — Use only under physician supervision.

• Betamethasone Dipropionate USP — one of the most potent topical corticosteroids for resistant inflammatory skin disease • Indicated specifically for resistant and severe psoriasis, including scalp psoriasis • Treats corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses that have not responded to less potent steroids • Lotion vehicle ideal for application over large body surface areas and the scalp • Provides rapid anti-inflammatory and antipruritic (anti-itch) relief • Flexible dosing — frequency can be reduced once condition is controlled • Prescription-strength treatment for dermatologist-supervised management

As directed by your doctor or dermatologist. Typical guidance: Apply a few drops of Provate Lotion to the affected area of skin or scalp. Gently massage into the skin until absorbed. Repeat twice daily (morning and night) or as adjusted by your physician. Do not use on the face, groin, or underarms without specific instruction. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Discontinue use and consult your doctor if irritation or sensitisation occurs. Do not use on viral, fungal, or infected skin. Prescription required — do not self-medicate.

Q: Is Provate Lotion available without a prescription? A: No. Provate Lotion is a prescription (Rx) medicine. A valid prescription from a registered doctor or dermatologist is required. Q: What is Provate Lotion used for? A: It is used for resistant and severe psoriasis (including scalp psoriasis) and other corticosteroid-responsive inflammatory skin conditions that have not responded to less potent treatments. Q: What is the active ingredient in Provate Lotion? A: Betamethasone Dipropionate USP — 0.64mg per ml (equivalent to Betamethasone 0.5mg/ml), a potent topical corticosteroid. Q: Why is Provate Lotion formulated as a lotion rather than a cream? A: The lotion formulation is particularly suited for the scalp and large skin areas, allowing even application without matting hair or leaving a heavy residue. Q: Can I use Provate Lotion on my face? A: Do not apply to the face without specific dermatologist instruction. Betamethasone dipropionate is a high-potency steroid that can cause significant skin thinning on facial skin. Q: What side effects should I watch for? A: Common reactions include mild burning, stinging, dryness, and pruritus. Long-term use may cause skin atrophy, hypopigmentation, hypertrichosis, or systemic absorption effects. Use strictly as directed.
