Amoxi-Clav Tablets 375mg contain a combination of Amoxicillin trihydrate (250mg) and Clavulanic acid (125mg) potassium salt, a broad-spectrum antibacterial combination manufactured by Sandoz. Available on prescription only.
Amoxicillin is a beta-lactam antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall biosynthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins. Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects Amoxicillin from enzymatic degradation by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, thereby extending the antibacterial spectrum of the combination to include resistant strains.
Amoxi-Clav 375mg is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms, including respiratory tract infections (bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis), urinary tract infections (UTIs), skin and soft tissue infections (cellulitis, impetigo), and otitis media, as prescribed by a physician.
