Apiban 5mg Tablet for Blood Clot Prevention & Treatment
Description
Apiban 5mg Tablet – Apixaban Direct Oral Anticoagulant (DOAC)
Apiban 5mg Tablet by Highnoon Laboratories contains apixaban, a direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) that selectively inhibits factor Xa. The 5 mg twice-daily dose is the standard strength for stroke prevention in non-valvular atrial fibrillation and for the treatment and ongoing prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE).
How Apixaban Works
By blocking factor Xa, apixaban prevents the formation of thrombin and limits abnormal clot formation in the veins, heart and arteries. This reduces the risk of stroke, systemic embolism and venous thromboembolism, with a predictable effect that does not require routine INR monitoring like warfarin.
Common Uses
- Stroke and systemic embolism prevention in non-valvular atrial fibrillation
- Treatment of acute DVT and pulmonary embolism
- Long-term prevention of recurrent DVT and PE
How to Take Apiban 5mg
Take exactly as prescribed, usually twice daily approximately 12 hours apart, with or without food. Swallow whole with water. If you miss a dose, take it the same day; never double the next dose.
CRITICAL Safety Warning — Do Not Stop Without Medical Advice
Do NOT stop Apiban suddenly. Discontinuation without medical supervision sharply raises the risk of stroke, systemic embolism and recurrent thrombosis. Any switch or stop must be planned by your doctor.
Important Safety Information
- Bleeding risk: Watch for unusual bruising, prolonged bleeding, blood in urine or stool, black tarry stools, coughing blood, severe headache, dizziness or weakness — seek urgent medical care.
- Dental, surgical & procedural disclosure: Always inform dentists, surgeons and other prescribers that you take apixaban before any procedure.
- Drug interactions: Strong CYP3A4/P-gp inhibitors (ketoconazole, itraconazole, ritonavir) raise apixaban levels; rifampicin, phenytoin, carbamazepine and St John’s wort lower levels. Combining with other anticoagulants, antiplatelets or NSAIDs increases bleeding risk.
- Pregnancy & breastfeeding: Not recommended.
- Mechanical heart valves & moderate-to-severe mitral stenosis: Apixaban is not suitable.
- Renal/hepatic impairment: Dose adjustment or avoidance may be required.
Prescription required. Use only under qualified medical supervision.
