What Apremist is:
Apremilast contains the active substance apremilast, belonging to a group of medicines called phosphodiesterase 4 inhibitors These help reduce inflammation
What Apremist is used for:
Apremist is used to treat adults with the following
conditions:
- Active Psoriatic Arthritis: When other medicines like DiseaseModifying Antirheumatic Drugs
(DMARDs) are ineffective or not tolerated - Moderate to Severe Chronic Plaque Psoriasis: When other treatments like phototherapy or systemic
therapy have not worked - Beh çet's Disease (BD): To treat mouth ulcers, a common symptom in people with this rare disease
How Apremist works:
Apremilast works by reducing the activity of an enzyme called phosphodiesterase 4 involved in the inflammation process By doing so, it helps control inflammation in psoriatic arthritis, psoriasis, and Beh çet's disease,
reducing associated signs and symptoms
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU TAKE APREMIST:
Do not take Apremist Tablet if:
- You are allergic to Apremist Tablet or any of the other ingredients
- You are pregnant or suspect pregnancy
Warnings and precautions:
Inform your doctor if you have depression or worsening depression with thoughts of suicide
Apremist contains lactose: Contact your doctor before taking if you have sugar intolerance
HOW TO TAKE APREMIST:
Always take Apremist as directed by your doctor The treatment initiation pack provides a gradual increase in dosage to reach the recommended daily dose of 60mg This ensures the correct dose is taken If you
have severe kidney problems, your doctor will adjust the dose
How and when to take Apremist:
- Swallow tablets whole with water
- Take them with or without food
- Take one tablet in the morning and one in the evening
- If your condition doesn't improve after six months, consult your doctor
- If you take more Apremist: Seek medical attention immediately and take the medicine pack with you
- If you forget to take Apremist: Take the missed dose when you remember unless it's almost time for your next dose Do not double the dose
- If you stop taking Apremist: Continue until your doctor advises otherwise

How To Use
1. Start with a 5-day titration pack as directed by your dermatologist or rheumatologist.
2. Maintenance dose is typically one 30mg tablet twice daily, morning and evening, about 12 hours apart.
3. Swallow whole with water; food does not significantly affect absorption.
4. Diarrhoea, nausea or headache often occur in the first 2 weeks then settle; stay hydrated.
5. Report new or worsening depression, mood changes or suicidal thoughts to your doctor immediately.
6. Notify your doctor if you experience significant unexplained weight loss; ongoing weight monitoring is advised.
