Azipos 500mg Tablet – Azithromycin Macrolide Antibiotic

Azipos 500mg Tablet by Highnoon Laboratories contains azithromycin 500 mg, a macrolide antibiotic with broad-spectrum activity against many gram-positive, gram-negative and atypical bacteria. Its long tissue half-life allows short, convenient treatment courses for a wide range of bacterial infections.

How Azithromycin Works

Azithromycin binds to the 50S ribosomal subunit of bacteria and blocks protein synthesis, stopping bacterial growth and multiplication. It concentrates inside infected tissues and immune cells, producing sustained antibacterial effect well after the last dose.

Common Uses

• Respiratory tract infections — bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia, sinusitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis
• Ear infections (otitis media)

How to Take Azipos 500mg

Take exactly as prescribed — usually one tablet once daily for 3 to 5 days depending on the indication. Can be taken with or without food. Always complete the full course, even if you feel better, to fully clear the infection and reduce the risk of antibiotic resistance.

Important Safety Information

• QT prolongation: Azithromycin may prolong the QT interval and rarely cause serious arrhythmias. Caution in known QT prolongation, low potassium or magnesium, significant bradycardia, heart failure or with other QT-prolonging drugs (e.g. some antiarrhythmics, antipsychotics, fluoroquinolones).
• Liver effects: Rare cases of hepatic dysfunction. Stop and seek care if jaundice, dark urine or severe right-upper-quadrant pain develops.
• GI effects: Diarrhoea is common; severe or persistent diarrhoea may indicate C. difficile colitis and requires medical attention.
• Drug interactions: Caution with warfarin, digoxin, ciclosporin, ergot derivatives and other QT-prolonging agents.
• Hypersensitivity: Do not use if you are allergic to azithromycin or other macrolides (erythromycin, clarithromycin).
• Not effective against viral infections such as influenza or the common cold.
