FAQs
What is Betagenic Ointment used for?
It is a prescription topical treatment for inflamed eczema, dermatitis and similar steroid-responsive skin conditions that are infected or at risk of bacterial infection.
Is Betagenic a strong steroid?
Betamethasone dipropionate 0.05% is classed as a moderately potent to potent topical corticosteroid; it must be used only as prescribed and not for long periods on large areas, face or groin.
How long can I use Betagenic Ointment?
Usually a short course of up to 1–2 weeks. Prolonged use can cause skin thinning, stretch marks (striae), telangiectasia, mask infection and, rarely, suppress adrenal function. Always follow your doctor's instructions.

Avoid the face, eyelids, groin and underarms unless your doctor specifically advises it. Use in infants and children should be brief and supervised, as they are more susceptible to systemic steroid effects.

Is Betagenic Ointment available without a prescription?
No. It is a prescription-only medicine and should be used under the supervision of a qualified doctor.
