Biforge 10/160mg Tablets for High Blood Pressure
Description
Biforge 10/160mg Tablets – Amlodipine + Valsartan High-Strength Combination
Biforge 10/160mg Tablets by Highnoon Laboratories combine amlodipine 10 mg (a calcium channel blocker, CCB) and valsartan 160 mg (an angiotensin II receptor blocker, ARB). This high-strength fixed-dose combination is used when monotherapy fails to control blood pressure, providing complementary mechanisms for stronger and more consistent 24-hour control.
How Biforge Works
Amlodipine blocks L-type calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle, relaxing arteries and reducing peripheral resistance. Valsartan blocks the AT1 receptor of angiotensin II, preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone-driven fluid retention. Together they lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure and reduce cardiovascular workload.
Common Uses
- Moderate to severe essential (primary) hypertension not controlled by single-agent therapy
- Step-up therapy from lower-strength Biforge or other antihypertensives
- Cardiovascular risk reduction in hypertensive patients (stroke, heart attack, kidney damage)
How to Take Biforge 10/160mg
Take one tablet once daily, at about the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow whole with water. Monitor your blood pressure regularly and attend follow-up appointments.
Important Safety Information
- Do not stop suddenly: Abruptly stopping antihypertensive therapy can cause rebound rises in blood pressure and increase cardiovascular risk — always consult your doctor before discontinuing.
- Pregnancy contraindicated: ARBs (including valsartan) can cause serious harm or death to the developing fetus, especially in the second and third trimesters. Do not use if pregnant; stop and inform your doctor immediately if pregnancy is confirmed or planned.
- Hypotension: Dizziness or lightheadedness can occur, especially at initiation, with dose changes, dehydration or in volume-depleted patients.
- Hyperkalaemia & renal function: Caution in kidney impairment, with potassium-sparing diuretics, potassium supplements or salt substitutes — periodic monitoring of potassium and creatinine may be needed.
- Peripheral oedema: Amlodipine commonly causes ankle swelling.
- Drug interactions: NSAIDs, lithium, other antihypertensives, ciclosporin and strong CYP3A4 inhibitors can interact — disclose all medicines.
- Breastfeeding: Not recommended.
Prescription required. Use only under qualified medical supervision.
