Biforge 5mg/160mg Tablets by Highnoon Laboratories combine amlodipine 5 mg (calcium channel blocker, CCB) and valsartan 160 mg (angiotensin II receptor blocker, ARB). This balanced mid-strength fixed-dose combination is prescribed when single-agent antihypertensive therapy is not enough, particularly when an ARB-dominant approach is preferred.

How Biforge Works

Amlodipine relaxes vascular smooth muscle by blocking L-type calcium channels, widening arteries and lowering peripheral resistance. Valsartan blocks the AT1 receptor of angiotensin II, preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone-driven fluid retention. Combined, they deliver consistent 24-hour reductions in systolic and diastolic blood pressure.

• Essential (primary) hypertension not controlled by amlodipine or valsartan alone
• Step-up therapy from lower-strength Biforge or other antihypertensives

How to Take Biforge 5mg/160mg

Take one tablet once daily at about the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow whole with water. Monitor blood pressure regularly and attend scheduled reviews.

Important Safety Information

• Do not stop suddenly: Abruptly stopping antihypertensive therapy can cause rebound rises in blood pressure — always consult your doctor before discontinuing.
• Pregnancy contraindicated: Valsartan can cause serious harm or death to the developing fetus, especially in the second and third trimesters. Do not use during pregnancy; inform your doctor immediately if pregnancy is confirmed or planned.
• Hypotension: Dizziness or lightheadedness may occur, especially at initiation, with dose changes, dehydration or in volume-depleted patients.
• Hyperkalaemia & renal function: Caution in kidney impairment, with potassium-sparing diuretics, supplements or salt substitutes. Periodic monitoring of potassium and creatinine may be required.
• Peripheral oedema: Amlodipine commonly causes ankle swelling.
• Drug interactions: NSAIDs, lithium, other antihypertensives, ciclosporin and strong CYP3A4 inhibitors can interact — disclose all medicines.
• Breastfeeding: Not recommended.
