Cedrox 1g Tablets — Cefadroxil Antibiotic
Description
Cedrox 1g Tablets — Cefadroxil for Susceptible Bacterial Infections
Cedrox 1g Tablets contain cefadroxil 1000 mg, a first-generation oral cephalosporin antibiotic. Cefadroxil works by binding penicillin-binding proteins and disrupting bacterial cell-wall synthesis, leading to lysis of susceptible Gram-positive organisms (including streptococci and methicillin-sensitive staphylococci) and selected Gram-negatives. The higher 1 g unit dose supports convenient once- or twice-daily regimens for adults with mild-to-moderate infections.
Typical indications include streptococcal pharyngitis and tonsillitis, uncomplicated urinary tract infections, skin and soft-tissue infections such as impetigo and cellulitis, and selected bone or wound infections caused by sensitive organisms. Because cefadroxil shares a beta-lactam ring with penicillins, patients with a history of severe penicillin allergy (anaphylaxis, angioedema or Stevens-Johnson reactions) should NOT take it without specialist review — there is a real risk of cross-reactivity.
Cedrox is prescription required. Always complete the prescribed course even if symptoms improve early, to reduce relapse and antimicrobial resistance. Dose adjustment is needed in significant renal impairment. Stop and seek urgent care if you develop a rash, facial swelling, breathing difficulty or severe watery/bloody diarrhoea (possible C. difficile colitis).
