About Cetapred

Cetapred Eye Drops 5ml is a combination ophthalmic preparation containing Chloramphenicol (broad-spectrum antibiotic) and Prednisolone (corticosteroid). The antibiotic component eliminates infection-causing bacteria while the corticosteroid reduces associated inflammation, redness, and swelling. It is indicated for bacterial eye infections accompanied by inflammatory response. Available on prescription only — use as directed by your ophthalmologist.

Uses

Cetapred Eye Drops are prescribed for bacterial conjunctivitis (pink eye), blepharitis (eyelid inflammation), and post-surgical ocular inflammation with bacterial infection risk. Prolonged use of corticosteroid eye drops may increase intraocular pressure (IOP) — regular IOP monitoring by your ophthalmologist is required during extended therapy. Do not use for viral or fungal eye infections.

How to Use

Wash hands before use. Apply as directed by your ophthalmologist. Do not touch dropper tip to eye. Tilt head back, pull lower eyelid down gently, instil the prescribed number of drops, and close eye for 1-2 minutes. Remove contact lenses before instillation and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting.

Storage

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep out of children's reach.

FAQs

What is Cetapred Eye Drops 5ml used for?

It treats bacterial eye infections with concurrent inflammation — including conjunctivitis, blepharitis, and post-surgical eye conditions.

Can I use Cetapred for a viral eye infection?

No — Cetapred is effective only against bacterial infections. Using steroid drops on a viral infection without appropriate antimicrobial cover can worsen the condition.

Can long-term use of Cetapred raise eye pressure?

Yes — prolonged corticosteroid eye drop use can increase intraocular pressure (IOP), raising the risk of glaucoma. Regular IOP monitoring by your ophthalmologist is required.

Can I use Cetapred with contact lenses?

Remove contact lenses before instillation and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting, or as directed by your ophthalmologist.
