FAQs

What is Clobederm-NN Ointment used for?

It is prescribed for inflamed, infected dermatoses – stubborn eczema, psoriasis, lichen planus, discoid lupus – complicated by bacterial or candidal (yeast) infection.

How strong is the steroid in Clobederm-NN?

Clobetasol propionate 0.05% is a potent (super-potent) topical steroid. The added neomycin and nystatin cover bacterial and fungal overgrowth, but the steroid component still requires careful, time-limited use.

How long can I use Clobederm-NN Ointment?

Usually no more than 1–2 weeks of continuous use, then reassessed by your doctor. Prolonged use can cause skin thinning, striae, antibiotic resistance and contact sensitisation to neomycin.

Can I use it on my face or in children?

Avoid prolonged facial application and the eye area. It is not suitable for primary skin infections, otitis externa with a perforated eardrum, infants under 1 year, rosacea or acne, and use in children must be brief and supervised.

What side effects should I watch for?

Skin atrophy, striae, pigmentation changes, hypercorticism with prolonged extensive use, allergic contact dermatitis (especially to neomycin) and masking of infection. Stop and consult your doctor if irritation, allergy or worsening rash develops.

Do I need a prescription?

Yes. Clobederm-NN Ointment is a prescription-only medicine and must be used under medical supervision.
