FAQs

Do I need a prescription for Effidex Lotion?

Yes. Betamethasone Dipropionate is a potent topical corticosteroid and is prescription-only (Rx) in Pakistan. Consult a registered dermatologist before use.

How long can I use Effidex Lotion?

Treatment should not exceed 4 weeks without a clinical re-evaluation by your dermatologist.

Can I use Effidex Lotion on my face?

Prolonged use on the face is not recommended. Facial skin is thinner with higher absorption — prolonged potent steroid use can cause skin atrophy, telangiectasia, and perioral dermatitis. Use only if specifically directed by your doctor.

What skin conditions does Effidex Lotion treat?

It is indicated for corticosteroid-responsive inflammatory conditions including resistant or severe psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis, and other unresponsive dermatoses.

What side effects should I watch for?

With prolonged use, potent topical corticosteroids can cause skin thinning (atrophy), stretch marks (striae), and with very large areas of application, systemic effects. Report any unusual skin changes to your doctor.

Is the lotion format better than cream for certain areas?

Yes. The lotion spreads more easily over hairy scalp areas or large body surfaces. Cream may be better for moist skin folds, while ointment suits very dry, lichenified plaques.

Is Effidex Lotion safe during pregnancy?

The safety of potent topical corticosteroids in pregnancy is not established. Consult your doctor before use.
