Gluconoram 2mg Tablets contain Glimepiride 2mg, a second-generation sulfonylurea antidiabetic agent indicated for the management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Manufactured by AGP, each pack contains 20 tablets. Glimepiride lowers blood glucose by stimulating pancreatic beta-cell insulin secretion and improving peripheral insulin sensitivity.
Indications
- Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus – as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycaemic control in adults
- Used when blood sugar cannot be adequately controlled through lifestyle modifications alone
- May be used as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents as directed by a physician
Mechanism of Action
Glimepiride binds to the sulfonylurea receptor (SUR1) on pancreatic beta-cells, stimulating insulin secretion. It also enhances the sensitivity of peripheral tissues to insulin, contributing to improved glucose uptake and utilisation.
Dosage & Administration
