Hicwic 250mg Tablet contains Azithromycin Dihydrate, a broad-spectrum macrolide antibiotic used to treat susceptible bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, ear, sinuses, throat, skin and certain sexually transmitted infections. It is a prescription required antibiotic and should be used only when a bacterial infection is confirmed or strongly suspected.
Azithromycin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding the 50S ribosomal subunit, stopping bacterial growth. Its long half-life supports convenient short courses, often 3 to 5 days, with sustained tissue levels.
Important safety notes: Azithromycin can cause QT interval prolongation and rare serious arrhythmias — use cautiously in patients with known QT prolongation, electrolyte imbalance, certain heart conditions, or those taking other QT-prolonging medicines. How To Use
1. Take as prescribed — commonly one tablet once daily for 3 to 5 days, dose depends on infection.
