Description
Lerace 500mg Tablet (Levetiracetam)
Lerace 500mg Tablet contains Levetiracetam 500mg, a second-generation anticonvulsant (anti-epileptic drug) used to control and prevent seizures in patients with epilepsy. It binds to the synaptic vesicle protein SV2A in the brain, modulating neurotransmitter release and reducing abnormal neuronal hyperexcitability that underlies seizure activity.
Lerace 500mg is indicated for partial-onset, myoclonic, and generalised tonic-clonic seizures. It may be used as monotherapy or adjunctive therapy alongside other antiepileptic medicines, depending on seizure type and clinical response. It does not cure epilepsy but significantly reduces seizure frequency and severity with consistent use.
Important Safety Information
- Do NOT stop abruptly: Sudden discontinuation can trigger breakthrough seizures, including status epilepticus. Dose must be reduced gradually under medical supervision.
- Psychiatric side effects: Behavioural and mood changes including aggression, irritability, agitation, depression, and suicidal ideation have been reported. Monitor patients — especially children and adolescents — closely and report any such changes to your doctor immediately.
- Teratogenicity: Levetiracetam may cause harm to the unborn child. Women of childbearing age should discuss contraception and the risks thoroughly with their physician before starting or continuing therapy during pregnancy or when planning to conceive.
- Renal dose adjustment: Levetiracetam is renally excreted; dose reduction is required in patients with renal impairment. Renal function should be assessed before initiation.
- Drowsiness and dizziness: Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medicine affects you.
Prescription required. Do not self-medicate or alter the dose without consulting your doctor. Available from Derma.pk Tablets & Capsules with nationwide delivery. WhatsApp: +92-320-5999650.
