Lodopin-V Tablets 5mg/160mg contain a fixed-dose combination of Amlodipine Besilate 5mg (calcium channel blocker) and Valsartan 160mg (angiotensin II receptor blocker / ARB). This combination provides complementary mechanisms of antihypertensive action for the management of essential hypertension.
Amlodipine reduces peripheral vascular resistance by blocking voltage-gated calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle. Valsartan reduces angiotensin II-mediated vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion by selectively blocking AT1 receptors. The combination provides additive blood pressure reduction with potential reduction in peripheral oedema compared to amlodipine monotherapy.
