Malin Lotion 60ml — Permethrin BP 5% | Prescription Scabies Treatment | Rx

Malin Lotion by Pharma-health contains Permethrin BP 5% w/w in a lotion base — a prescription-only antiparasitic for the treatment of scabies caused by Sarcoptes scabiei mite infestation. Permethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid that disrupts sodium ion channels in the parasite's nervous system, causing paralysis and death on contact. Scabies is highly contagious — all close household contacts must be treated simultaneously.

Composition

  • Permethrin BP: 5% w/w in a lotion base

Indication

  • Scabies (Sarcoptes scabiei infestation)

How to Apply

  1. Bathe and towel-dry the body
  2. Apply Malin Lotion to the entire body from neck to toes — include all skin folds, between fingers and toes, under fingernails, the umbilicus, and genital area
  3. Leave on for 8–14 hours (overnight)
  4. Wash off thoroughly in the morning
  5. Treat all household members and close contacts on the same day
  6. Wash all bedding, clothing, and towels at 60°C on treatment day

Important Precautions

  • All household contacts must be treated simultaneously to prevent re-infestation
  • Itching may persist 2–4 weeks after treatment — this is a normal hypersensitivity reaction, not treatment failure
  • Avoid contact with eyes — rinse immediately if contact occurs
  • Not for oral use — for external skin use only
  • Contraindicated in hypersensitivity to Permethrin, pyrethroids, or pyrethrins
  • Consult doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding

  • Single overnight application — one application is typically sufficient to treat a scabies infestation
  • Full-body coverage — 60ml provides adequate volume for one complete whole-body adult application
  • Relieves intense itching — eliminating mites removes the trigger for scabies-related pruritus
  • Well-established efficacy — Permethrin 5% is a first-line treatment for scabies in dermatology guidelines

FAQs

Do I need a prescription for Malin Lotion?

Yes. Permethrin 5% is a prescription-only (Rx) antiparasitic in Pakistan. To be sold on prescription of a registered medical practitioner only.

How do I use Malin Lotion for scabies?

After bathing and drying, apply the lotion from neck to toes covering all body areas. Leave on overnight (8–14 hours) then wash off thoroughly in the morning.

Does my whole family need to be treated?

Yes. All household members and close skin contacts should be treated at the same time, even if they have no symptoms yet. This prevents re-infestation.

What should I do about bedding and clothing?

On treatment day, wash all clothing, bedding, and towels at 60°C or seal in a plastic bag for 72 hours to kill any surviving mites.

Why am I still itching after treatment?

Itching can persist for 2–4 weeks after successful treatment due to a hypersensitivity reaction to dead mite material under the skin. This does not necessarily mean treatment failure. See your doctor if symptoms worsen or do not improve after 4 weeks.

Is Malin Lotion different from E Scab Lotion?

Both contain Permethrin 5% and treat scabies. Malin is specifically indicated for scabies only (Sarcoptes scabiei). Always use as directed by your dermatologist.

Is it safe during pregnancy?

Consult your doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
