Omsana 40mg Tablet contains Olmesartan Medoxomil, a potent angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) for moderate to severe hypertension. This higher-strength dose is prescribed when lower doses (10mg or 20mg) have not achieved target blood pressure. Olmesartan blocks the AT1 angiotensin receptor, causing vasodilation, reduced peripheral resistance, and sustained blood pressure lowering.

Important Precautions

Discontinue immediately if pregnancy is confirmed
- Hyperkalaemia: Can raise potassium levels — avoid concurrent use of potassium-sparing diuretics or supplements without monitoring
- Acute kidney injury: Risk is heightened in volume-depleted or dehydrated patients — ensure adequate fluid intake and close monitoring when initiated
