Omsana Diu 20/12.5mg Tablet is a prescription combination antihypertensive containing Olmesartan Medoxomil 20mg (angiotensin II receptor blocker / ARB) and Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5mg (HCTZ), a thiazide diuretic. It is prescribed for hypertension (high blood pressure) that is not adequately controlled by a single agent.
Olmesartan relaxes and widens blood vessels by blocking angiotensin II receptors, while Hydrochlorothiazide removes excess salt and fluid from the body through the kidneys — together providing complementary dual-action blood pressure reduction and cardiovascular protection against stroke, heart failure, and kidney damage.
Important: Contraindicated in pregnancy — the ARB component is teratogenic. Avoid in severe renal impairment. Electrolyte monitoring (potassium, sodium) is recommended as HCTZ can cause hyponatraemia and hypokalaemia. Take in the morning to minimise nocturnal diuresis. Do not stop abruptly without medical advice.
