Pentoxol-M Tablets 0.5mg/10mg are a prescription-only combination antidepressant containing Flupenthixol HCl 0.5mg and Melitracen HCl 10mg — a Deanxit-class formulation widely used for mixed anxiety-depression and psychosomatic disorders. Flupenthixol, a thioxanthene antipsychotic at low dose, blocks central dopamine receptors, while Melitracen, a tricyclic antidepressant, inhibits reuptake of noradrenaline and serotonin to elevate mood.
Pentoxol-M is indicated for psychogenic depression, depressive neuroses, anxiety states, masked depression, menopausal depression, and depression associated with alcoholism or substance use. The combination provides synergistic anxiolytic and antidepressant effects, reducing apathy, dysphoria, and psychosomatic symptoms while improving emotional stability and daily functioning.
Due to the activating properties of Flupenthixol, Pentoxol-M is not recommended for excitable or overactive patients or those previously stabilised on sedative neuroleptics without medical reassessment. Avoid concurrent use with MAO inhibitors (minimum 14-day washout) and alcohol. Side effects may include transient restlessness, insomnia, or dry mouth. Regular psychiatric review is essential during treatment.

How To Use
Use only as directed by your healthcare provider.
1. Take Pentoxol-M exactly as prescribed by your psychiatrist or physician.
2. Swallow the tablet whole with water at the same time each day.
3. Avoid alcohol and CNS depressants throughout treatment.
4. Do not use concurrently with MAO inhibitors — a minimum 14-day washout is required.
5. Do not abruptly discontinue; taper the dose under physician supervision to avoid withdrawal effects.
