Usage & Benefits
Kills Scabies Mites and Eggs: Permethrin 5% disrupts the neurological function of Sarcoptes scabiei mites, killing both live mites and their eggs with a single application.
First-Line Scabies Treatment: Permethrin 5% cream is the WHO-recommended and globally established first-line treatment for scabies in adults and children.
Single-Application Efficacy: A single overnight application (8–12 hours) is typically sufficient for complete scabies eradication when applied correctly.
Reduces Itch and Spread: Eliminates the source of infestation, bringing progressive relief from intense itching within days of treatment.
Low Systemic Absorption: Minimal systemic absorption through intact skin ensures a safe treatment profile when used as directed.
Family Treatment Compatible: Can be used to treat all household members simultaneously to prevent re-infestation — as directed by a physician.
How To Use
For external use only — use only under medical supervision with a valid prescription.
IMPORTANT: Scabies is contagious. All household and close contacts should be treated simultaneously under physician guidance.
1. Shower or bathe and allow skin to cool and dry completely before application.
2. Apply Scabrid Cream from the neck downward — cover all skin folds, between fingers and toes, under nails, buttocks, and genital area.
3. Leave the cream on skin for 8–12 hours (usually overnight).
4. Wash off the cream thoroughly with soap and water after the treatment period.
5. Change and wash all clothing, bedding, and towels used in the 3 days before treatment (hot wash at 60°C or seal in a bag for 72 hours).
6. Itching may persist for 2–4 weeks after successful treatment — this is normal as dead mites remain in the skin.
7. If symptoms persist after 2 weeks, consult your doctor — a second application may be required.
For children under 2, pregnant women, or elderly patients — apply only under explicit physician instruction.
FAQs
What is Scabrid Cream used for?
Scabrid Cream is a prescription topical treatment for scabies, a parasitic skin infestation caused by Sarcoptes scabiei mites. It kills mites and eggs to resolve the infestation.
Do I need a prescription for Scabrid Cream?
Yes. Scabrid Cream is a prescription-only (Rx) medication. A valid prescription from a registered medical practitioner is required. Derma.pk has qualified in-house pharmacists to assist.
How long does Scabrid Cream take to work?
One overnight application (8–12 hours) is typically sufficient to eliminate the infestation. However, itching may continue for 2–4 weeks post-treatment as the immune system reacts to dead mites — this is normal and does not indicate treatment failure.
Does everyone in the household need to be treated?
Yes. All household members and close contacts should be treated simultaneously on the same night, even if they do not yet show symptoms, to prevent re-infestation.
Is Scabrid Cream safe for children and pregnant women?
Use in infants under 2 months, pregnant, or nursing women requires explicit physician guidance. For children aged 2 months and above, application under medical supervision is generally accepted.
Why am I still itching after treatment?
Persistent itching for 2–4 weeks after a successful treatment is common and normal — it results from the immune response to dead mites and their debris. Only consult a doctor if new burrows or blisters appear after 2–4 weeks.
