Sumatec Tablets by Platinum Pharmaceuticals contain sumatriptan, a serotonin (5-HT1) receptor agonist from the triptan class, indicated for the acute relief of migraine attacks with or without aura. Sumatriptan helps narrow widened brain blood vessels and dampens the release of pain-promoting chemicals, easing headache pain along with associated nausea and light or sound sensitivity when taken at attack onset.
Sumatec is not for migraine prevention or daily use – it is used only for active attacks. Do not take Sumatec within 24 hours of ergot-type medicines or another triptan.
