Description
Telmis-A 80/10mg Tablets are a dual-mechanism prescription antihypertensive combining Telmisartan 80mg (an angiotensin II receptor blocker, ARB) and Amlodipine 10mg (a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker). Amlodipine inhibits calcium ion influx into vascular smooth muscle cells, causing vasodilation and reduction in peripheral vascular resistance. Telmisartan selectively blocks AT1 receptors, preventing angiotensin II-mediated vasoconstriction and aldosterone-driven fluid retention. Used together, these complementary mechanisms achieve superior blood pressure reduction compared to monotherapy and lower the risk of major cardiovascular events including stroke and myocardial infarction.
Telmis-A 80/10mg is intended for adult patients with hypertension that is inadequately controlled on a single agent. Regular blood pressure monitoring is recommended throughout therapy. Common side effects include ankle oedema, dizziness, and headache. Do not take with other ARBs or ACE inhibitors without physician guidance. Pregnancy category D — must not be used during pregnancy.
