Description
About Valmo Tablets 5mg/160mg
Valmo Tablets 5mg/160mg contain a fixed-dose combination of Amlodipine 5mg (calcium channel blocker) and Valsartan 160mg (angiotensin II receptor blocker / ARB), providing a well-tolerated dual-mechanism approach to blood pressure control.
Amlodipine lowers blood pressure by relaxing arterial smooth muscle through calcium channel blockade, reducing peripheral vascular resistance. Valsartan prevents vasoconstriction by selectively blocking the angiotensin II AT1 receptor, reducing both blood pressure and cardiac afterload. Used together in a fixed combination, they offer superior antihypertensive efficacy compared to either agent alone.
Indicated for essential hypertension in adults. This is a prescription-only medicine (Rx). Contraindicated in pregnancy — Valsartan can cause fetal harm. Ankle oedema may occur with Amlodipine. Do not stop this medicine without your doctor's advice.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How does Valmo 5/160 differ from Valmo 5/80?
A: Both contain Amlodipine 5mg, but Valmo 5/160 has a higher dose of Valsartan (160mg versus 80mg), providing greater angiotensin II blockade and blood pressure reduction for patients requiring more intensive ARB therapy.
