Description
What is Valsar M 5/160mg Tab?
Valsar M 5/160mg Tab is a fixed-dose combination antihypertensive tablet containing Amlodipine 5mg (calcium channel blocker) and Valsartan 160mg (ARB), used to treat essential hypertension and protect against cardiovascular events. For the higher Amlodipine dose, see Valsar M 10/160mg Tab.
How Does Valsar M 5/160mg Work?
Amlodipine reduces vascular resistance by blocking calcium influx into smooth muscle cells. Valsartan blocks angiotensin II receptors (AT1), preventing vessel constriction and water/sodium retention. Together they lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure through complementary mechanisms.
