Vastarel MR 35mg Tablets contain Trimetazidine in a modified-release formulation. Trimetazidine is an anti-ischaemic agent with a unique mechanism — rather than affecting heart rate or blood pressure, it acts at the cellular level by inhibiting mitochondrial long-chain 3-ketoacyl CoA thiolase (3-KAT), thereby favouring glucose oxidation over fatty acid oxidation. This metabolic shift improves myocardial energy efficiency during ischaemia, reducing cellular acidosis and preserving ATP production. The clinical result is relief of anginal symptoms and improved exercise tolerance in patients with stable angina.
In addition to angina, Vastarel MR may be prescribed for vertigo and tinnitus of vascular origin, where it supports cochlear and vestibular blood flow.
