Melasma, freckles and dark spots are among the most common concerns in Pakistan — and the most frustrating, because they fade slowly. The good news: with the right ingredients and strict sun protection, most pigmentation improves over time.
What causes pigmentation?
- Sun exposure — the single biggest driver; UV triggers excess melanin.
- Hormones — pregnancy and hormonal changes commonly trigger melasma.
- Post-acne marks — dark spots left after pimples heal.
- Heat & friction — can worsen melasma in our climate.
The ingredients that fade dark spots
- Sunscreen (SPF 50) — non-negotiable; without it, nothing else works. See our sun-care range.
- Vitamin C — brightens and protects; explore vitamin C products.
- Niacinamide — reduces dark spots and calms skin.
- Alpha arbutin & tranexamic acid — targeted brighteners, gentle for daily use.
- Azelaic acid — great for melasma and post-acne marks.

A simple brightening routine
Morning: gentle cleanser → vitamin C or brightening serum → moisturiser → SPF 50.
Night: cleanser → a brightening active (alpha arbutin, azelaic acid, or a dermatologist-prescribed option) → moisturiser.
Realistic expectations
Pigmentation fades slowly — expect 8–12 weeks for visible improvement, longer for deep melasma. Consistency and daily sunscreen matter more than any single product. If melasma is severe or not responding, a dermatologist can offer prescription creams or in-clinic treatments.
