Description

Adapco Forte Gel (Adapalene Gel USP): Effective Acne Treatment with Adapalene

Composition and Description

Adapco Forte Gel is a powerful solution for treating acne, containing Adapalene as its active ingredient. Each gram of this gel contains Adapalene BP (Adapalene Gel USP) at a concentration of 0.3% w/w. Adapalene is a naphthoic acid derivative with retinoid like properties, making it a potent tool against acne. The molecular formula is C28H28O3, with a molecular weight of 412.53

Mechanism of Action

Adapalene acts on various biological processes relevant to the development of acne vulgaris. While its exact mode of action isn't fully
understood, it's believed to normalize cellular differentiation, keratinization, and inflammation of follicular epithelial cells. This
normalization process leads to reduced microcomedone formation, a key factor in acne development. Adapalene binds to specific retinoic acid nuclear receptors, modulating cellular processes without binding to cytosolic receptors

Indications

Adapco forte Gel is indicated for the topical treatment of acne vulgaris in patients aged 12 years and older. It is effective against
various manifestations of acne, including:

  • Eczema (atopic, infantile, and discoid eczemas)
  • Prurigo nodularis
  • Psoriasis (excluding widespread plaque psoriasis)
  • Neurodermatoses (including lichen simplex and lichen planus)
  • Seborrheic dermatitis
  • Contact sensitivity reactions
  • Discoid lupus erythematosus
  • Insect bite reactions
  • Prickly heat

Dosage and Administration

  • Apply Adapco forte Gel once daily at nighttime to the affected areas of the skin after gently washing with a mild soapless cleanser. Ensure that you use a thin film, covering the entire affected area lightly. Some patients may experience a mild transitory sensation of warmth or slight stinging after application. Avoid applying the gel to the areas around the eyes, lips, and mucous membranes
  • If there is no noticeable improvement after 12 weeks of treatment, consult your healthcare provider for reevaluation

Contraindications

Adapco Forte Gel should not be used in the following cases.

  • Acne vulgaris
  • Perioral dermatitis
  • Primary cutaneous viral infections (e.g., herpes simplex, chickenpox)
  • Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients
  • Perianal and genital pruritus
