Adapco Forte Gel — Adapalene 0.3% (Forte Strength) | Prescription Retinoid Gel for Acne

Prescription required. Adapco Forte Gel by Atco Pharma contains Adapalene USP 0.3% w/w — the higher-strength Forte formulation of this third-generation retinoid gel. Adapalene normalises follicular keratinisation and reduces microcomedone formation, making it one of the most effective treatments for acne vulgaris. For patients aged 12 and above under dermatologist supervision.

Composition

Each gram contains: Adapalene BP 3mg (0.3% w/w) in gel base.

Mechanism of Action

Adapalene binds to specific nuclear retinoic acid receptors (RARs) and modulates follicular epithelial cell differentiation, keratinisation, and inflammation — reducing microcomedone formation without the high irritation profile of older retinoids.

Indications

  • Acne vulgaris — comedonal, papular, and pustular forms
  • Patients aged 12 years and above

Dosage and Administration

  1. Gently cleanse the face with a mild, non-abrasive cleanser; pat dry.
  2. Apply a thin film of Adapco Forte Gel to acne-affected areas once daily at night.
  3. Avoid the eye area, lips, nostrils, and mucous membranes.
  4. A mild transitory stinging or warmth after application is normal.
  5. If no improvement after 12 weeks, consult your dermatologist for re-evaluation.

Important: Sun Protection Required

Apply SPF 30+ broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning during treatment. Adapalene increases skin photosensitivity. Browse our sun protection & SPF range.

Usage & Benefits
  • Adapalene 0.3% (Forte strength): Higher concentration vs standard 0.1% — more potent comedolytic and anti-inflammatory retinoid activity for moderate-to-severe acne
  • Normalises follicular keratinisation: Reduces abnormal differentiation of follicular epithelial cells, preventing microcomedone formation—the root cause of acne
  • Binds specifically to nuclear retinoic acid receptors (RAR): Modulates cell differentiation and inflammation without binding to cytosolic receptors, reducing irritation vs older retinoids
  • Anti-inflammatory: Inhibits chemotactic responses and inflammatory mediators that worsen acne lesions
  • Effective for comedonal, papular, and pustular acne vulgaris
  • Once-nightly application; results typically visible from 8–12 weeks with consistent use
How To Use

As directed by your dermatologist.
1. Wash face gently with a mild, non-abrasive cleanser and pat dry.

3. Avoid the eye area, lips, nostrils, and mucous membranes.
4. Do not use with other potentially irritating products or strong drying agents at the same time.
5. Apply SPF 30+ broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning — adapalene increases photosensitivity.
6. A mild transitory warming sensation or slight stinging after application is normal; if severe irritation occurs, reduce frequency or consult your doctor.

8. Do not store above 30°C. Protect from light and heat.
9. Keep out of reach of children. For external use only.

FAQs

Does Adapco Forte Gel require a prescription?

Yes. Adapco Forte Gel contains Adapalene 0.3%, a prescription-strength retinoid. It must be used under dermatologist supervision.

What is the difference between Adapco Gel (0.1%) and Adapco Forte Gel (0.3%)?

Adapco Forte contains Adapalene at 0.3% — three times the standard 0.1% concentration. The Forte formulation is intended for moderate-to-severe acne or cases where the standard strength proved insufficient. Your dermatologist will advise which strength is appropriate.

How long does Adapco Forte Gel take to work?

Improvement is typically gradual. Expect 8–12 weeks of consistent nightly use before full benefit is seen. Some patients experience an initial purging phase (temporary worsening) in the first few weeks — this is normal with retinoids.

Do I need to use sunscreen with Adapco Forte Gel?

Yes — mandatory. Adapalene increases skin photosensitivity. Use SPF 30+ broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning and avoid prolonged sun exposure.

Can Adapco Forte Gel be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Adapalene is Pregnancy Category C. Safety in pregnancy has not been established; use only if potential benefits justify the risk. Use with caution during breastfeeding. Consult your doctor.

What age group can use Adapco Forte Gel?

Indicated for patients aged 12 years and older. Not recommended for children under 12.
