Aerokast Tablets 5mg — Montelukast Leukotriene Receptor Antagonist

Aerokast Tablets 5mg contain Montelukast Sodium 5mg, indicated for the prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma in children aged 6 to 14 years, and for the prevention of exercise-induced bronchoconstriction. It is also used to relieve symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis. As a selective CysLT1 receptor antagonist, Montelukast blocks the action of leukotrienes that cause airway inflammation and narrowing, improving respiratory function with long-term use.

  • Asthma prophylaxis in children aged 6–14 years
  • Prevention of exercise-induced bronchoconstriction in paediatric patients
  • Relief of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis symptoms
  • Reduces airway inflammation through CysLT1 receptor blockade
  • Convenient once-daily dosing for long-term management

Dosage and Administration

Take one Aerokast 5mg tablet once daily in the evening, with or without food, as prescribed by the physician. Swallow whole with water. This is a long-term preventive medicine — it should not be used to treat an acute asthma attack. In case of acute bronchospasm, use the prescribed rescue inhaler immediately. Do not discontinue without medical guidance. Prescription required.

What age group is Aerokast 5mg for?

Aerokast 5mg is indicated for children aged 6 to 14 years for asthma prophylaxis and prevention of exercise-induced bronchoconstriction. Adults and children 15+ should use Aerokast 10mg.

Can Aerokast 5mg be used to stop an asthma attack?

No. Aerokast 5mg is a long-term preventive medicine, not a rescue treatment. Use the prescribed short-acting bronchodilator for acute asthma attacks.
