Description
Alphagan Eye Drops 0.2% 5ml — Brimonidine Tartrate
Alphagan Eye Drops 0.2% contain Brimonidine Tartrate, a selective alpha-2 adrenergic agonist indicated for the reduction of elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. Brimonidine lowers IOP by both reducing aqueous humour production and increasing uveoscleral outflow, providing dual-mechanism pressure control to protect the optic nerve from glaucomatous damage.
Alphagan may be used as monotherapy or as adjunctive therapy alongside beta-blockers or prostaglandin analogues when target IOP is not achieved with a single agent. Prescription required and must be used under ophthalmic supervision.
- Reduces elevated intraocular pressure in open-angle glaucoma
- Indicated for ocular hypertension to prevent optic nerve damage
- Dual mechanism: reduces aqueous production and enhances uveoscleral outflow
- Suitable as monotherapy or adjunctive therapy with other IOP-lowering agents
- Prescription-only — requires ophthalmic supervision
