Brivace 50mg Tablets contain Brivaracetam 50mg — a third-generation antiepileptic drug manufactured by Hilton Pharma. The 50mg strength represents the standard recommended starting dose (50mg twice daily = 100mg/day) for most adult patients initiating Brivaracetam therapy. It is indicated for adjunct treatment of partial-onset (focal) seizures in adults and adolescents ≥16 years. This is a prescription-only (Rx) medicine.
How Does Brivace Work?
Brivaracetam selectively binds synaptic vesicle protein 2A (SV2A) with approximately 15–30-fold higher affinity than levetiracetam. SV2A is a membrane glycoprotein on synaptic vesicles that plays a critical role in regulating neurotransmitter release. By modulating SV2A, Brivaracetam reduces the abnormal synchronous burst-firing of overactive neurons that generates focal seizures. Side Effects
Common: somnolence, dizziness, fatigue, nausea, vomiting.
