Irecon 150mg Tablets contain irbesartan, a potent orally active selective angiotensin-II type 1 (AT1) receptor antagonist (ARB). Irbesartan lowers blood pressure by blocking AT1 receptors, preventing angiotensin-II-mediated vasoconstriction, thereby relaxing blood vessels and reducing vascular resistance without significantly affecting serum potassium levels.
Irecon 150mg is indicated as a starting dose for essential hypertension in adults. The dose may be uptitrated to 300mg under physician guidance if blood pressure is not adequately controlled. It is also indicated for renal protection in hypertensive patients with type 2 diabetes and proteinuria. Regular blood pressure and renal function monitoring is recommended throughout therapy.
