Irecon H 150/12.5mg Tablets are a fixed-dose combination containing irbesartan 150mg, a selective AT1 receptor antagonist (ARB), and hydrochlorothiazide 12.5mg, a thiazide diuretic. This dual mechanism provides complementary blood pressure lowering: irbesartan relaxes blood vessels by blocking angiotensin-II at AT1 receptors, while hydrochlorothiazide promotes renal sodium and water excretion, reducing plasma volume.
Irecon H 150/12.5mg is indicated for adults whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by irbesartan monotherapy alone. The combination is particularly effective and reduces the incidence of diuretic-induced hypokalaemia associated with thiazides when given as monotherapy. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, renal function, serum electrolytes, and uric acid is recommended during treatment.
