How To Use

How to Use

1. Use only on a doctor's prescription with baseline assessment - dose depends on age, weight and infection site.
2. Common paediatric dosing for tinea capitis: 62.5mg daily under 20 kg, 125mg daily 20-40 kg, 250mg daily above 40 kg.
3. Adults usually take 250mg per day (two 125mg tablets or one 250mg tablet) - your doctor will confirm the right regimen.
4. Take the tablet once daily with water, with or without food, at the same time each day.
5. Complete the full prescribed course - typical durations are 2-6 weeks for skin, 4 weeks for scalp and several months for nails.

Report jaundice, dark urine, persistent nausea, abdominal pain, rash or severe taste disturbance immediately. Avoid in active liver disease unless your doctor judges the benefit outweighs the risk. Store below 30 degrees Celsius and out of reach of children.

FAQs

Is Terbisan 125mg a prescription medicine?

Yes - oral terbinafine requires a prescription due to risks of liver injury and the need for monitoring.

Why use 125mg rather than 250mg?

125mg is helpful for children, lower-weight patients and dose-titration. Many adults will be prescribed two 125mg tablets daily.

How long is treatment for tinea capitis or nail infection?

Tinea capitis usually 4 weeks, fingernail onychomycosis around 6 weeks, toenail onychomycosis 12 weeks or longer.

Are blood tests needed?

Doctors usually check liver function before starting and may repeat tests during prolonged therapy.

Can I use Terbisan in pregnancy?

Avoid in pregnancy and breastfeeding unless your doctor decides the benefits clearly outweigh the risks.
