The Ordinary Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% Serum 30ml
Description
The Ordinary Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% Serum 30ml
The Ordinary Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% is a water-based brightening serum that pairs direct Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) with Alpha Arbutin to address dark spots, post-acne marks, and uneven skin tone. Both ingredients work on melanin production through complementary pathways, making this a focused, dual-action formula for visible brightening results.
Ascorbic Acid at 8% is a water-soluble form of Vitamin C that is effective but less stable than anhydrous L-Ascorbic Acid formulas — this is intentionally a gentler entry point. Alpha Arbutin at 2% is a glycoside derivative of hydroquinone that inhibits tyrosinase activity without the instability concerns of hydroquinone itself.

FAQs
What does Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% do?
Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) is an antioxidant that inhibits melanin synthesis and supports collagen production. Alpha Arbutin inhibits tyrosinase — an enzyme involved in melanin production — through a complementary mechanism. Together they work on dark spots, post-acne marks, and uneven tone.
Is this the same as L-Ascorbic Acid serums?
Ascorbic Acid and L-Ascorbic Acid refer to the same molecule. However, this is a water-based 8% formula, which is generally gentler and less likely to cause sensitivity than higher-concentration anhydrous (oil-based) formats. The trade-off is that water-based Vitamin C can oxidise faster — store it properly and use within 3 months of opening.
Can I use this with niacinamide?
The Ordinary does not restrict this combination. If you prefer to layer them separately, apply niacinamide before or after with a short wait between steps.
Do I need SPF when using this serum?
Yes. Brightening actives like Vitamin C make proper sun protection more important. Use broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every morning.
Is this available in Pakistan?
Yes. The Ordinary Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% Serum 30ml is stocked at Derma.pk with nationwide delivery.
