Dosage & Administration

Side Effects
Common: extrapyramidal symptoms (akathisia, tremor, rigidity), somnolence, headache, tachycardia, constipation, weight gain. Prolactin elevation is a recognised class effect, potentially causing menstrual irregularities and sexual dysfunction. Metabolic effects include weight gain, dyslipidaemia, and hyperglycaemia. QTc prolongation reported. Rare: NMS, tardive dyskinesia.
Precautions
Contraindicated in known hypersensitivity to paliperidone or risperidone. Use with caution in cardiovascular disease, QTc-prolonging co-medications, diabetes, or renal impairment.
