Best Moisturiser for Dry Skin in Pakistan: The Urea Guide

Medically reviewed by derma.pk’s registered pharmacists. For severe or persistent dryness, consult a dermatologist.

Dry, tight, flaky skin is uncomfortable — and common in Pakistan’s dry winters and air-conditioned summers. The fix is choosing the right moisturiser and using it consistently.

Why skin gets dry

Your skin barrier loses water when it’s damaged by harsh cleansers, hot water, weather, or age. A good moisturiser restores that barrier using three types of ingredients:

  • Humectants (glycerin, hyaluronic acid, urea) — draw water into the skin.
  • Emollients (squalane, fatty acids) — smooth and soften.
  • Occlusives (petrolatum, shea butter) — seal moisture in.

What urea does — and who it’s for

Urea is a star ingredient for dry skin: at lower strengths it deeply hydrates, and at higher strengths it gently exfoliates rough, flaky or thickened skin (great for elbows, heels and very dry patches). It’s ideal for dry, rough or keratosis-prone skin. A popular option is the Hydrophil Urea 10% Moisturising Lotion.

How to layer moisturiser

Apply to slightly damp skin (within a minute of washing) to lock in water. For the face: a hydrating serum, then moisturiser, then sunscreen in the morning. For the body: a urea or rich lotion daily, focusing on dry areas. Browse our moisturisers & lotions.

If dryness is severe

Intense, itchy or cracked skin may be eczema or another condition — see our eczema range and consider a dermatologist if it doesn’t settle with regular moisturising.
