Vozilar 200mg Tablets – Voriconazole Antifungal (Pack of 10)
Vozilar 200mg Tablets contain Voriconazole, a broad-spectrum triazole antifungal indicated for serious and life-threatening fungal infections in adults and paediatric patients aged 2 years and above. Voriconazole inhibits the cytochrome P450-mediated 14α-lanosterol demethylation, an essential step in fungal ergosterol biosynthesis, thereby disrupting cell membrane integrity.
Indications
- Invasive Aspergillosis – first-line treatment for pulmonary and disseminated aspergillosis.
- Candidemia – bloodstream Candida infections in non-neutropenic patients.
- Fluconazole-Resistant Candida Infections – oesophageal and invasive candidiasis caused by azole-resistant strains.
- Scedosporium & Fusarium Infections – serious mould infections refractory to other antifungals.
- Prophylaxis – prevention of invasive fungal infections in high-risk allogeneic bone marrow transplant recipients.
Mechanism of Action
Voriconazole selectively inhibits fungal CYP51 (lanosterol 14α-demethylase), blocking ergosterol synthesis and leading to accumulation of toxic methylated sterols within the fungal cell membrane.
Dosage & Administration
- Use as directed by your physician.
- Typically administered orally twice daily, at least 1 hour before or after a meal.
- Dose adjustments required in hepatic impairment; therapeutic drug monitoring recommended in complex cases.
