Diode Laser Hair Removal — Full Arms

In-clinic diode laser hair removal for the full arms at Skin Clinic by Dr. Eram Razzaq, Bahria Town Lahore. The diode wavelength targets melanin in the hair follicle to reduce hair growth over a course of sessions, performed by trained clinical staff under dermatologist supervision.

What to expect

Most patients need 6–8 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart, followed by occasional top-ups. Diode laser works best on darker, coarser hair on lighter skin (Fitzpatrick I–IV are easiest to treat; V–VI need careful settings and longer cooling). It is less effective — and may not work at all — on white, grey, red or very fine vellus hair. A consultation confirms Fitzpatrick skin type, hair-colour suitability, medication and medical history.

Usage & Benefits

- Covers a large area (full arm) efficiently with built-in contact cooling.
- Long-term hair reduction in suitable candidates - typically thinner, finer, slower regrowth.
- More comfortable than IPL for most people thanks to cooling tips.
- Honest limits: usually 6-8 sessions are needed and results vary. Diode laser is best for dark, coarse hair on Fitzpatrick I-IV skin. Fitzpatrick V-VI is treatable with careful settings but needs experienced operators. It does NOT work well on white, grey, red or very fine vellus (peach-fuzz) hair. Permanent hair removal cannot be guaranteed - the realistic outcome is significant long-term reduction.

How To Use

Booking: WhatsApp +92 320 5999650 or UAN 0304 1115000 to book a consultation at Derma Dental Clinic, Bahria Town Lahore.
Pre-care (important):
- Do NOT wax, pluck, thread or epilate for 2-4 weeks before. Shaving is required - shave the area 12-24 hours before your session so the follicle is intact but the surface hair is gone.
- No sun exposure or tanning beds for 4 weeks before AND after. Sun-tanned skin raises burn and pigmentation risk.
- Tell your clinician about photosensitising medication (e.g. doxycycline, isotretinoin, certain antibiotics, St John's Wort), recent skin treatments, or gold deposits in the skin.
Procedure: protective goggles are worn. A cooled diode handpiece is passed over the arms. Most people report a warm snap or rubber-band sensation.
Aftercare: avoid hot baths, sauna, gym and tight friction for 24-48 hours. Apply a soothing gel (aloe / panthenol) and broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily. No waxing, plucking or electrolysis between sessions - shaving only.

FAQs

How many sessions for full arms?

Typically 6-8 sessions at 4-6 week intervals, plus occasional top-ups.

Is it painful?

Most describe it as a warm snap. Cooling tips make it tolerable. Settings can be adjusted.

Will it work on my hair?

Diode laser needs pigment. It works best on dark hair. It does NOT reliably work on white, grey, red or fine blond/vellus hair.

Is it safe for my skin tone?

Diode is safer for darker skin than older laser types, but Fitzpatrick V-VI still need careful settings. Consultation confirms this.

Who should avoid it?

Pregnancy, active skin infection or eczema in the area, recent sun-tan, photosensitising medication, recent isotretinoin (within 6 months), gold deposits in skin, history of keloid scarring without medical clearance.

Can I wax between sessions?

No. Only shave. Waxing removes the follicle the laser needs to target.

Permanent?

Honest answer: significant long-term reduction in most suitable candidates, but lifelong top-ups may be needed. Hormones can also reactivate dormant follicles.

Cost?

Confirmed at consultation.
