Diode Laser Hair Removal Services: Chin & Lip
Description
Diode Laser Hair Removal — Chin & Upper Lip
In-clinic diode laser hair removal targeted to the chin and upper lip at Skin Clinic by Dr. Eram Razzaq, Bahria Town Lahore — a small, focused area but one of the most hormone-sensitive zones, so realistic expectations matter.
What to expect
Chin and upper lip typically need 8–12 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart, with ongoing top-ups. If hair growth is sudden, dense or accompanied by other symptoms, a hormonal review (PCOS, thyroid) is usually advised before starting. Diode laser works on dark, coarse hair; white, grey, red and very fine vellus (peach-fuzz) hair generally will not respond. Consultation required.

Usage & Benefits
- Quick, focused session - usually under 15 minutes.
- Reduces threading/waxing-related irritation and post-inflammatory pigmentation on the chin and lip.
- Cooled diode tip makes the sensitive upper lip more tolerable than IPL.
- Honest limits: chin and lip are hormone-driven. 8-12 sessions are typical and top-ups are expected for life. Diode does NOT reliably treat white, grey, red or vellus/peach-fuzz hair. Permanent removal cannot be guaranteed - the realistic outcome is significant long-term reduction.

Pre-care:
- Do NOT wax, pluck or thread for 2-4 weeks before. Shave 12-24 hours before.
- Stop retinoids and strong acids on the face for 5-7 days.
- No sun exposure or self-tanners for 4 weeks before AND after.
- Disclose photosensitising drugs, recent isotretinoin (6 months), pregnancy, hormonal conditions, recent injectables and any history of cold sores (laser can trigger an outbreak - antiviral prophylaxis may be needed).
Procedure: protective goggles are mandatory; intra-oral tooth guards may be used near the lip line. Cooled handpiece is passed over chin and upper lip in sections. Most describe a sharp warm snap that is over quickly.
Aftercare: skin may be pink and slightly swollen for a few hours. No makeup for 12 hours. Avoid hot showers, sauna, perfume and active skincare for 24-48 hours. Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily. Shave only between sessions - no waxing or threading.
FAQs
How many sessions for chin and lip?
Typically 8-12 sessions at 4-6 week intervals, then ongoing top-ups.
Does it hurt?
The upper lip is one of the most sensitive zones. It is a quick sharp warm snap. Numbing cream can be applied at consultation if needed.
I get cold sores - is laser safe?
Tell your clinician. Laser near the lip can trigger an outbreak. Antiviral prophylaxis is often advised.
I have PCOS - will it work?
It can reduce density, but PCOS-driven follicles reactivate, so expect more top-ups. A hormonal review is often advised first.
Suitable in pregnancy?
No.
Will it work on light blond chin fuzz?
No. Diode needs pigment. Light/vellus hair will not respond.
Will it darken or lighten my skin?
Used correctly, it should not. The main risk is post-laser pigmentation if you sun-tan around the session - SPF is non-negotiable.
Contraindications?
Pregnancy, photosensitising drugs, recent isotretinoin, active facial infection or cold sore flare, recent sun-tan, gold deposits in skin, melasma without specialist clearance.
Cost?
Confirmed at consultation.
